The City of Vale fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. City staff begin preparing the new budget several months before the new fiscal year. We take into account prior year costs, anticipated future costs, capital improvement projects, and anticipated grant dollars. The budget committee typically meets in May to review and approve the budget. Once approved, the budget is presented to city council for final approval.
The city also participates in a financial audit every fall by an outside auditor. This ensures the city is following proper accounting, budgeting, and filing processes.
